China has broken all records by installing 93,000 megawatts of solar panels in May 2025 alone. This achievement highlights China's global leadership in clean, renewable energy.
In a groundbreaking achievement, China has installed 93,000 megawatts (MW) of solar panels in just one month, setting a new world record in the renewable energy sector. According to a report by the U.S.-based research organization Asia Society, this record was achieved in May 2025, with nearly 100 solar panels installed every second.
To put this into perspective, the electricity generated by these solar panels is nearly equivalent to the total energy production of Poland. In comparison, Pakistan's total national power production capacity is around 49,000 MW.
In addition to solar panels, China also installed 5,300 wind turbines capable of generating 26,000 MW of electricity within the same month.
The report highlights that China is undergoing a major renewable energy revolution, focusing heavily on affordable and clean electricity sources. From January to May 2025, China installed:
✅ 198 GW (198,000 MW) of solar power capacity
✅ 46,000 MW of wind energy capacity
This amount of energy production is almost equal to the total power capacity of countries like Indonesia or Turkey.
Moreover, China is now generating over 1,000 GW (1 Terawatt) of electricity annually through solar power alone. Remarkably, this represents nearly 50% of the world's total solar energy production, solidifying China's position as the global leader in renewable energy.
China is not only producing record amounts of solar and wind energy but is also the largest manufacturer of solar panels and wind turbines worldwide. This rapid growth in renewable infrastructure is part of China's long-term goal to reduce carbon emissions and lead the world towards a sustainable future.
China's recent achievement reflects its unmatched dedication to clean energy and climate goals. As countries around the world look to transition to renewable sources, China's aggressive approach to solar and wind energy sets an example for others to follow.
